This Privacy Policy explains how MATIC AUTOMOTIVE LIMITED ("VehicleMatic", "we", "us") collects, uses and protects personal data when you use the VehicleMatic website, developer portal and APIs. We are committed to processing personal data in accordance with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
1. Data controller
The data controller is MATIC AUTOMOTIVE LIMITED, 85 Great Portland Street, First Floor, London, England, W1W 7LT. For privacy matters, contact legal@maticautomotive.com.
2. What we collect
- Account data — name, work email, company name, and authentication details.
- Billing data — plan, credit balance, invoices and payment metadata (card details are handled by our payment provider, Stripe, and are not stored by us).
- Usage data — API request logs, endpoints called, timestamps, IP address, and API-key identifiers, used for metering, security and support.
- Communications — messages you send us via contact forms or email.
Note: automotive data returned by the API (e.g. vehicle registration, MOT, driver-licence data) is processed on your behalf. Where that data is personal data, you act as controller and we act as processor for its delivery. See our Terms and any data-processing terms that apply to you.
3. How we use your data and our legal basis
- To provide the Service (create your account, authenticate API keys, meter usage) — performance of a contract.
- To bill you and prevent fraud — performance of a contract and our legitimate interests.
- To secure and improve the Service — our legitimate interests.
- To send service and, where you have opted in, marketing messages — legitimate interests or consent.
- To comply with legal obligations — legal obligation.
4. Who we share data with
We share data with sub-processors who help us run the Service — including Stripe (payments), our cloud hosting provider, and email/support tooling — under contracts that require appropriate safeguards. We may disclose data where required by law. We do not sell your personal data.
5. International transfers
Where personal data is transferred outside the UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement / Addendum.
6. How long we keep data
We keep account and billing data for the life of your account and for as long as needed to meet legal, accounting and tax requirements. Usage logs are retained for a limited period for security and support.
7. How we protect data
We use encryption in transit, hashed-at-rest API keys, access controls and monitoring. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable and appropriate measures to protect your data.
8. Your rights
Subject to conditions, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict or object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. To exercise these rights, contact legal@maticautomotive.com. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
9. Cookies and analytics
We use strictly necessary cookies to run the site and portal, and may use analytics cookies to understand usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
10. Marketing
We only send marketing where permitted. You can opt out at any time using the unsubscribe link or by contacting us.
